Didlake CEO Paul Gravley made a guest appearance on John Register’s Elevate Life podcast. John Register is a paralympic silver medalist, a decorated U.S. Army veteran and a resilience architect. Following a service-related injury that led to the amputation of his left leg, John chose to “amputate fear” and pursue a path that would elevate not just himself, but thousands of others navigating change.
In his podcast, John asks his guests, “What did you have to amputate in order to elevate to your success?” John notes that the amputations — what we release — often become the levers that lift us higher.
In response, Paul shared three levers that matter for executives in transitions. After each lever, John shared his thoughts and a related challenge for leaders.
- Release the need to be the expert and instead be the orchestrator of excellence
- Presence in the moment
- Leadership is like a quarterback calling an audible
Leadership in high stakes transition isn’t about control. It is about clarity, trust and adaptability. Trust others, show up with presence and call the right play for the right season.
