NAAM Spread Awareness Promote Acceptance Ignite Change national autism awareness month picture 2020

Today, April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. Throughout its history, the United Nations has celebrated diversity and promoted the rights and well-being of  individuals with disabilities, and declared this day as World Autism Awareness Day in 2008.

April is National Autism Awareness Month (NAAM), and we invite you to spread awareness, promote acceptance, and ignite change in support of the autism community. Didlake is proud to celebrate National Autism Awareness Month along with the Autism Society of America with its “Celebrate Differences” campaign. #CelebrateDifferences focuses on providing information and resources for communities to be more aware of autism, promote acceptance, and be more inclusive in everyday life.

April represents an excellent opportunity to educate others about autism and issues within the autism community and encourage awareness, understanding, and acceptance. Every day Didlake does this through The Didlake® Autism Center of Excellence.

We understand the ongoing concerns surrounding COVID-19, and the added challenges it may bring to the autism community. The Autism Society of America, Organization for Autism Research, and the VCU-ACE all have resources available for individuals and family members.
