U.S. Postal Award of Excellence Given to Didlake-operated Mail Center at Dept. of Energy

November 19, 2007 / Didlake / News

Manassas, VA – The Department of Energy (DOE) mail center operation managed by Didlake, Inc. has been named winner of the 2007 Mailing Excellence Award by the U.S. Postal Service. Didlake, Inc., an award-winning contract services provider dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities, has provided mail center operation services to the DOE as part of the AbilityOne Program since 1998.
Jerry D. Lane, U.S. Postal Service Vice President Capitol Metro Operations, presented the prestigious award to Alvin Majors, Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative, who accepted on behalf of the DOE Headquarters Mail Management and Mail Operations team. Bob Sullivan, Executive Director NISH East Region, presented a Superior Service Award to the Didlake staff working at the DOE’s Forrestal and Germantown facilities. The Didlake, Inc. team was recognized for outstanding best practices in mail management and mail operations, specifically cost savings in priority shipments, use of business reply mail and process improvements.
Didlake’s contract with the DOE employs more than thirty people with disabilities – all of whom were recognized with on-site celebrations following the presentation of the award. Didlake CEO Rex Parr expressed his appreciation to Contracting Officer’s Representative Mike Wolf and Contracting Officer’s Technical Representatives Alvin Majors and Tony Nellums for their continued support of Didlake and the AbilityOne Program. The AbilityOne Program is the largest source of employment in the U.S. for people with severe disabilities. Didlake, Inc. is a leading AbilityOne contractor in the DC Metro area.
