Naval Air Station (NAS) Oceana kicked off Project SEARCH in September, becoming the Navy’s first installation to host the innovative program, which connects high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to internships and on-the-job training.
Project SEARCH is a ten-month, school-to-work program where students who are military dependents or are military-connected engage in internships at various locations around the installation. They will receive hands-on training and learn real-world skills inside the classroom.
