Manassas, VA (April 2, 2024) — Today, the Hylton Performing Arts Center unveiled a new copper sign for the Didlake Grand Foyer — a 7,300 square-foot, two-story foyer in the entrance to the Arts Center. Didlake’s partnership with the Hylton Performing Arts Center was made possible by a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Roger J. Costello, Sr. Their son, Roger J. Costello, Jr., was a longtime participant of Didlake’s Day Support Program.
“Our partnership with the Hylton Center expands opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in arts and culture and raises community awareness of our mission,” said Didlake CEO Elect Paul Gravley, who attended the sign unveiling along with Didlake Marketing Manager Lakia Graham. “We are grateful for the beautiful new sign that underscores the importance of our partnership in creating inclusive communities.”
The Didlake-Hylton partnership provides employment, volunteer, performance and other opportunities for people with disabilities throughout the community. Earlier this year, Didlake provided sensory bags, including fidget pens and stress stars, for visitors.
The Hylton Center opened its doors at George Mason University’s Manassas campus in 2010. The facility soars more than nine stories and boasts a stunning mix of copper, glass and masonry. The 85,000-square-foot center is home to two unparalleled performance venues for local arts groups and performers from around the world, as well as university-related activities.
The Hylton Center was born out of a partnership among Prince William County, George Mason University, the City of Manassas, the Commonwealth of Virginia and individuals and businesses in the private sector. Since opening day, the Didlake Grand Foyer has welcomed patrons and visitors with a central space for community gatherings. The copper sign further elevates the already awe-inspiring entrance with its sweeping staircase and two-story glass-front wall.
