Didlake Starts a New Contract with the Internal Revenue Service

Didlake Starts a New Contract with the Internal Revenue Service

March 5, 2009 / Didlake / News

Manassas, VA – On October 1, 2008, Didlake, Incorporated, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to enriching the lives of people with disabilities, announced the start of a new contract under the AbilityOne Program.  As a participant in the General Service Administration’s (GSA) recycling program, the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) headquarters office in Washington, DC had a requirement for recycling services.
As a leading provider of Janitorial Services to federal government agencies in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC, Didlake remains on the cutting edge of “going green.”  All of these contracts entail some degree of recycling services, anything from collecting toner cartridges to recycling beverage containers, office papers and cardboard.  Didlake is excited to expand on its greening initiatives with this new IRS contract, Didlake’s first dedicated solely to recycling.
Didlake follows the strict standards of ISSA – the Worldwide Cleaning Association, and we collaborate with our federal customers to be stewards of the environment by utilizing cleaning chemicals and processes considered to be environmentally safe by government and industry. Didlake is also committed to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building processes and following Presidential Executive Order 13101—Greening the Government Through Waste Prevention, Recycling, and Federal Acquisition.
This new contract with the IRS provides three positions, including a significant promotion for an individual with a disability into a management position.  These individuals are responsible for handling the recyclable needs of the approximate 3,000 occupants and visitors to the building including mixed white paper, commingled (cans, glass and plastic) containers, newspaper and cardboard.   The IRS Headquarters building was built in 1930 and is a GSA designated Historical Building.
