Manassas, VA – Didlake began Fiscal Year 2014 creating new opportunities for people with disabilities by adding 32 full-time positions for Maryland residents with two new contract milestones: the organization’s first state use contract and its first grounds maintenance contract outside of the Greater Hampton Roads region.
On October 1, Didlake began implementation of a much-anticipated mowing and landscaping contract with the Maryland Aviation Administration (MAA) at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) for three years, with a contract value of $6.7 million. This contract was facilitated through the Employment Works Program (EWP) of Maryland Works, Inc. the state-delegated coordinator and membership association that advocates and promotes employment and economic opportunities for individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment by providing the State of Maryland with high quality services and products.
Didlake worked closely with the Employment Works Program and MAA to ensure for a smooth transition for this high profile facility. “We are happy to expand our stellar grounds maintenance operations from the Greater Hampton Roads area to the Northern Virginia and Maryland region,” said Allen Otis, Didlake’s Director of Operations for Greater Hampton Roads and the BWI contract. “We look forward to maintaining the ‘Jewel of Maryland.’”
MAA is proud of the airport’s standing as the 23rd busiest airport in the U.S. with over 300 acres of property to maintain.
