Alfreda Richards has been an employee at Didlake’s Business Services Center in Remington, Virginia since her graduation from high school in 1982. She has deep roots and a wide circle of family and friends in the close-knit Remington community. In fact, she is something of a celebrity. Ms. Richards has a variety of interests and hobbies, but it is her special talent of chair caning, or “woven cane” – nearly a lost art – that draws the most interest, as well as customers. Her attention to the intricate and complex details of her craft is evident in the beautiful cane seats of the valuable antique chairs she restores. Ms. Richards is a valued member of both her community and the Didlake team.
