Didlake Announces Winners of the First Ever CIP Art Contest

On February 18 a reception was held at Didlake's Breeden Ave. headquarters to honor the six winners of the first ever Community Inclusion Program (CIP) Art Contest.

The contest was initiated by John Craig, Vice President of Rehabilitative Services and featured works of art created by participants in Didlake's Expressive Arts Therapy program one of the options in the CIP program. Said Mr. Craig, "I was extremely pleased with the enthusiasm and level of participation in this project, not to mention the outstanding quality of the art produced, which exceeded everyone's expectations".

With the winning art, which included works in acrylic, photography and mixed media, on display in the background, Didlake CEO Rex Parr offered a toast and John Craig presented certificates and cash awards to the artists. In addition to the artists and their families, attendees included members of the Boards of Directors of both The Didlake Foundation and Didlake, Inc., as well as members of the Prince William Community Services Board and volunteers from OPERATION: Didlake a volunteer group that supports the fundraising efforts of The Didlake Foundation.

The winning artists were Stephen Ducote, Lois Layne, Steffany Puddy, Kari Robertson, Keith Shiflett and Jameel Soto. Congratulations to the winners. The Didlake Foundation is planning a future art show that will feature art created by artists with disabilities and other regional artists.
