The festive d’cor and zesty cuisine of Okra’s Louisiana Bistro in Old Town Manassas formed the backdrop for a party to celebrate the release of American Historical Press’s new publication ‘ Virginia, A Commonwealth Comes of Age. The beautifully illustrated hardcover publication is the newest work of Virginia historian Lisa Antonelli Bacon. It features rare historical images and breathtaking color photos to accompany the author’s lively account of Virginia’s rich heritage.
The celebration was hosted by The Didlake Foundation and attended by Ms. Bacon, who personally autographed copies for delighted guests. Didlake, Inc. is featured in the new book in a chapter titled “Chronicles of Leadership”.
Rex Parr, President and CEO of Didlake, Inc. commented, “We’re very proud to be featured in this beautiful publication. The story of Virginia spans four hundred years anyone with an interest in history can easily get lost in its pages”.
The Didlake Foundation is selling copies of the book ($34.95) to benefit its ongoing work developing a program of long-term support for people with disabilities. To purchase a copy, contact Betty Dean at 703-361-4195.
